A Couple of Conferences
Trust got to be a part of a couple really awesome conferences this month. We’ve found a lot of value in conferences, getting out of the shop really helps with self evaluation and working on the business instead of in the business.
Creative South
Trust had the awesome opportunity to print the official attendee shirt for Creative South, a large and quickly growing creative conference in Columbus, GA. Matt was also in attendance with his roommate—The Podcast Dude himself—Aaron. Creatives from all over the world gathered in a very small city to learn and connect with each other.
Matt lists the stories of Charles Anderson and Bob Ewing as inspirational and exciting, and gained great appreciation for the work of Mackey Saturday.
“Sometimes we get so used to our normal lives that we can’t squeeze anymore juice from it. Creative South and similar conferences are a great place to get out of the day-to-day to work ‘on’ yourself and your business.”
Squares
Squares Conference is a fantastic local conference put on by Circles Co. It’s a web-focused design and development event in Grapevine, TX and I had the opportunity to attend this year.
Web development obviously isn’t the focus of Trust’s business model, but we have and continue to be heavily involved in website and internal software development. Also, the speakers were so good that I was able to take a lot of the wisdom they shared and apply it more directly to Trust. Anne Grundhoefer spoke about design systems and the value of “measure twice, cut once”, Austin Knight challenged us to focus on our users and to design without ego, and Dave Rupert used game development as an example of the value of prototyping.
